The Interfaith Alliance Foundation seeks a graduate student whose interests and experience encompass interfaith relations, interaction with high school youth, American political history and advocacy for religious freedom to be a core player and member of our staff from May 1 through August 31 with concentration on our LEADD (Leadership Education Advancing Democracy and Diversity) summer program. (www.WeLEADD.org) The workload will be in three distinct phases, before, during and post LEADD which will take place at the National 4-H Student Center in Chevy Chase, MD from July 27-August 3.
May 1-July 25, 2008: Prior to the arrival of students, counselor and faculty at the National 4-H Student Center the last weekend in July: - Arrangements and agenda planning for a one-day faculty meeting, likely in New York or Connecticut in early June.
- Preparation of draft Master Schedule for entire LEADD week.
- Work with Director and faculty on counselor training and full staff orientation July 25-26 at 4H Center.
- Prepare DC Day overview and, working with TIA colleagues, arrange appointments on the Hill.
- Collaborate with LEADD faculty in researching and reproducing print and video materials to enhance the curriculum.
- Meet with communications staff to strategize on publicity opportunities.
- Study 2006-2007 materials and reports.
- Act as LEADD liaison to the evaluation consultant chosen by the Vice President.
July 25-August 3, 2008: - Assist with counselor training and faculty/staff orientation
- Attend daily staff meetings and facilitate necessary changes to the master schedule
- Daily liaison with counselors
- Work with faculty during classes, small groups, other interactions as needed
- Liaison to evaluation consultant
- Implementation of DC Day
August 4-31, 2008: - Gather materials electronically and place on the central TIA drive
- Prepare a report based on personal observations and reflections to guide TIA staff for 2009 as well as your successor LEADD Fellow
- Write thank you letters to all DC Day contacts
- Assist with curriculum and program for Weekend LEADD pilot August 29-31
Flexible hours can be arranged in early May and late August to accommodate academic schedules.
