Check out Interfaith Alliance’s friend-of-the-court brief in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez

This case asks whether a public university can deny school funding and other benefits to a religious student group because the group requires voting members and officers to sign a “Statement of Faith.” Interfaith Alliance filed for neither party in this case and it is our hope that the Court will uphold the religious freedom of the student group while preventing public funds from supporting their religious activities. On April 19th, the Supreme Court heard oral argument on the case and a decision will be handed down in the next few months. Read the brief hereRead the Press Statement here.

Tell Congress to Pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act!

While existing federal laws prohibit workplace discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, national origin and disability, no federal law exists to protect employees from discrimination on the basis of real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. In 30 states, an individual can be fired, refused a job, demoted or denied a promotion based on his or her sexual orientation, and in 38 states it is legal to do so because of an individual’s gender identity.
